Trip to the hydroelectric plant.

12th of May we started a trip to the hydroelectric plant, sited in Bolarque.

At first, we thought that antonio wasn’t going to come, but suddenly he appeared and a smile was drawn in our faces.

We started a boring journey by bus to the hydroelectric plant, we just spendt our time listening to music and speaking with the friends. the people who went were between 17 and 15 years old.

When we arrived to the power station, a representative of Iberdrola (the enterprise which direct the hydroelectric power station) received us, and she made an introduction about what we were going to talk about. then, she guided us to a small room where she showed us some terms of the running of the hydroelectric plant.

That hydroelectric plant works in a different way: it was made to transfer water in a massive way to other places, with the objective of trying to water places where there aren’t enough water to save their vegetation, and also, it uses that kind of running to their own profit. At first, they send all the water to a kind of lake, and the water that is there, it is waiting to be sent to somewhere where the water is needed (this order is sent by the government), if no one need the water, they uses the height between the lake and the hydroelectric power station, so the send the water to the power station using that change of altitude so they can change the potential energy that the energy has because the water is very high, to electric energy, with some machines called turbines, then, the energy is tranformed in a transformer, where the voltage is changed to a high voltage to be sent all around the country.

After that explanation, we moved to a bar, where the people gave us something to drink (hot pepsi, awful...), and then we went to the museum of the hydroelectric plant, where the woman who guided us told us something about the evolution of the industry and the machines, and finally they gave us a book about the energetic saving.

Finally we returned to the school with one day less of class and we had a great time.
